Eco mining, step by step
Eco mining replaces electricity with life: you earn PLNT by planting a real tree and proving it exists, then you earn again every year that tree is confirmed alive. This page explains each step, what the blockchain actually records, and what happens when something goes wrong.
The short version
Plant a tree. Photograph it in the app so its location travels with the picture. Automated checks confirm the submission and write a Proof of Growth record to the Solana blockchain. You receive PLNT. Every following year, one fresh photo confirms the tree is alive and pays a larger reward, because an older tree captures more CO2.
Step 1: Plant a real tree
Everything starts with a tree in real soil. Native species in suitable places matter more than raw numbers, because a tree that suits its surroundings is the tree that survives long enough to matter. A tree that dies in its second year removes almost no carbon; a tree that lives for decades removes a great deal.
Step 2: Verify it
You photograph the tree in the PLANTAURUM app. The photo carries its geolocation, and each tree carries a tag so the same tree can be recognised year after year. Automated visual checks look at the image together with its location before anything is written on chain.
The result is a record we call Proof of Growth: a permanent public entry showing that a specific tree was verified at a specific place and time. It cannot be edited later, and it does not depend on anyone believing us.
Step 3: Earn PLNT
Once the proof is recorded, the reward settles on Solana in seconds, for a network fee measured in fractions of a cent. That efficiency is the reason the model works at all: rewarding millions of small events would be impossible on an expensive chain.
Step 4: Re-verify every year
Each year, one fresh photo confirms the tree is still standing. The yearly reward is not flat: it rises with the tree's age, following the curve of how much carbon a tree actually captures as it matures. A seedling absorbs a few kilograms a year; a mature tree absorbs several times that.
This is the part that makes the whole system honest. Payment is tied to survival, not to a single planting-day photo, so the incentive to earn and the incentive to keep the tree alive are the same incentive.
What happens if a tree dies
Rewards for that tree simply stop. Nothing is taken back from you, and you can plant and verify a new one. That is what keeps every ongoing reward attached to a living tree rather than to a historical claim.
Why the proof lives on a blockchain
A record in a company's private database is only as trustworthy as the company. A record on a public blockchain can be read by anyone, checked independently, and cannot be quietly rewritten. For a market whose central weakness is unverifiable claims, that difference is the entire product.
