Every term, in plain language

Crypto hides simple ideas behind difficult words, and that is often the point. Here is every term used across this site, explained the way you would explain it to a friend, with no assumed background.

Eco mining

Creating digital value by planting and verifying real trees instead of consuming electricity. In PLANTAURUM, a verified tree is the work that earns PLNT.

Proof of Growth

The on-chain record proving a specific tree was verified at a specific place and time, and re-verified in later years. It is what turns a planting claim into evidence.

Proof of Care

The idea that each token is backed by ongoing care for a living tree, because rewards continue only while the tree keeps being verified alive.

PLNT

The ticker of the PLANTAURUM token, an SPL token on the Solana blockchain. The brand is written PLANTAURUM, the token PLNT.

Blockchain

A public ledger kept simultaneously by thousands of computers. Once written, an entry cannot be edited or deleted, and anyone can read it.

Solana

The blockchain PLANTAURUM runs on. It settles transactions in seconds for fractions of a cent, which is what makes rewarding millions of small planting events practical.

SPL token

The token standard on Solana, the equivalent of ERC-20 on Ethereum. PLNT is an SPL token.

Mint address

The unique on-chain address that identifies a token. For PLNT it is 7xvENU7nK8DhGUjLcqFfqzGFhai4RxgpVKzTDDAdm4JP. Always check a token by its mint address, never by its name alone.

Fixed supply

A total number of tokens that can never increase. PLNT is fixed at 500,000,000,000.

Mint authority

The permission to create new tokens. When it is renounced, as it is for PLNT, no further tokens can ever be created by anyone, including the project.

Freeze authority

The permission to freeze someone else's token balance. PLNT has renounced it, so no holder can ever be locked out of their own tokens.

Renounced

Permanently given up on chain. A renounced authority cannot be restored, which is why renouncing is a stronger promise than any wording in a document.

Liquidity pool

The exchange counter of a decentralised market: a pool holding both the token and a stable asset, so anyone can buy or sell at any time. The price follows the ratio between the two sides.

Locked liquidity

A liquidity pool the project itself cannot withdraw. It is the standard protection against the exit scam known as a rug pull.

Rug pull

A scam in which the owners drain the liquidity pool and disappear with buyers' money. Locking liquidity is what makes it impossible.

Vesting

Releasing tokens gradually over time instead of all at once. PLANTAURUM team tokens have a 3-month cliff followed by a 12-month linear release, so the team can only benefit from long-term success.

Cliff

The initial period of a vesting schedule during which nothing unlocks at all.

Treasury

The project's reserve allocation, used gradually and with public notice for operations, contingencies and strategic moves.

Tokenomics

The plan for how a token supply is divided and released: who receives what, for what purpose, and under which locks.

Utility token

A token whose purpose is use inside a system. PLNT is a utility token: it grants no equity, no shares, no debt, no dividends and no claim on profits.

MiCA

Markets in Crypto-Assets, the European Union regulation for crypto-assets. It sets out what must be published before a crypto-asset is offered to the public in the EU.

Whitepaper

The official document describing what a project does, how, and under what rules. Under MiCA it has a prescribed structure and content.

KYC

Know Your Customer: verifying a buyer's identity with an official document before a purchase, the same way a bank does.

AML

Anti Money Laundering: automated checks that a buyer's funds are not linked to sanctions, theft or fraud.

Geoblocking

Restricting access to a service based on the visitor's country, a standard tool when a public offer is not open in a given jurisdiction.

ESG

Environmental, Social and Governance: the reporting obligations that push companies to prove, not merely claim, their environmental investment.

Carbon credit

A tradeable unit representing carbon removed or avoided. The market's persistent weakness is verification, which is exactly what on-chain proof addresses.

Carbon sequestration

The process by which a growing tree pulls CO2 out of the air and stores it as wood. Sequestration per year rises as the tree matures.

Blockchain explorer

A public website for reading blockchain data. Solscan and Solana Explorer both show PLNT supply, holders and transactions.

Wallet

The app holding your keys and therefore your tokens. Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your seed phrase, under any circumstances.
